You don’t. There are charges to carry extra items like fishing rods, and there’s a chance that they will get lost, damaged, stolen, ect. Go to Wal-Mart, buy 2 or 3 rods of similar size and reels as your normal rods, these will suffice for a couple weeks with no problems. DO NOT RISK losing your rods, wal-mart rods cost about 20 to 30 each, losing your rods will cost you possibly hundreds of dollars cash, and the memories you obtained with them.

the odds are better that the airline will NOT lose your rods. just get a sturdy rod case at basspro like the other guy said and enjoy your vacation.

I believe I would buy a 3″ or 4″ PVC pipe, about 6″ longer than your rods, using pvc cement, put a cap on one end and a threaded cap on the other ( very inexpensive). Rap your rods in bubble wrap and slip them into the tube. Take care that the ends are well padded so they do not slip around in the tube. Tape the threaded end. Box your reels and tacklebox. Then ship them to Florida via UPS or FED EX. They will be there when you get there. You can purchase ins. if you like. Like ed7661, I do not trust airlines with my rods. Hope this helps!!!
Plus after the trip, you’ve got a nifty rod case.

i agree with griddleton43 - you could also buy a plano case and check it in.
