Whats fishing lures to use in ponds and fishing from shore?

Ric asked:

all right in a young fishermen who has been fishing for 6 years. I know it all except i cant find the right lure to use in ponds and fishing in lake on shore. Ive fished alot with worms and i know they dont last too long. Somedays would be better then others with normal lures. But what lure is like 80% likely to catch a big fish in about 2 hours?

Hmm, well a Mepps Aglia squirrel tail with a silver spoon #3 or #4 works for me, but they different color spoons too.

The rooster-tail is one of the best lures ever…you can catch anything from baby bluegill to 5 pound bass…http://mickiesplace.com/store/product/4518/Wordens–Rooster-Tail–GlitFireTig-1-8/

If I could only have 1 lure,it would be a Mann’s Baby minus 1 crankbait,chartruese/firetiger in color. Easy to use, doesnt snag much, and I have caught a ton of fish with them. second choice would be a black skirted buzz bait.

dont use rooster tails or spoons. You’ll end up catching to many pickerel and so on. If you want to catch nice sized smallmouth or largemouth bass i recommend:

Spro Little John Crankbait. Runs 3-5 feet deep and catches tons of bass. Use in shallow water.

Bomber Fat Free Shad. Runs 8-18 Feet Deep. Cheap and Catches fish.

Booyah Spinnerbaits or Strike King Spinner Baits. Best Spinnerbaits ive use. Caught me tons of bass. USE CHARTREUSE FOR SMALLMOUTH!!

For pond fishing I like just using a 6 inch stick worm like a Yum Dinger, Yamaoto Senko, or a Tiki Stick by Waveworm. Use it texas rig with no weight. you can also use buzzbaits and small spinnerbaits.

As far as pond fishing is concerned,no ifs, ands, or buts, I don’t care what anyone says, the best bait for catching bass year round is a texas rigged rubber worm!! I prefer the Gulp Turtle-back version, in either pumpkin-seed, or purple. It never fails, no matter what type of weather, or what time of year! If you are looking for a crank-bait to use in the warmer summer months, you can’t go wrong with the Rapala J-9.
